Splinting
Splints, made and fitted by your therapist
A splint holds a hand, wrist or finger still, or lets it move only where it should. We form custom splints from heat-moldable material, fit ready-made ones, and check every splint at each visit.
This care is for you if
Your surgeon asked for a splint after an operation or an injury
A splint you wear rubs, slips or feels too tight
You need a different splint for sleep, for work or for a sport
A splint was made elsewhere and you want it checked

What to know before you come
What a visit looks like
A first visit is about an hour, and later visits are shorter. The same therapist examines your hand, checks the splint against your surgeon's orders and adjusts it.
What we do
We examine the hand, make or adjust the splint, teach you how to wear it and keep it clean, and set exercises that fit your surgeon's orders.
What decides how many visits
Your surgeon's orders, how the hand responds, how the splint fits and what your hands must do each day. We tell you what we expect at each visit, and we do not promise a number.
Who treats you
A physical therapist from our three: Lynn Hartman, Darrell Pickett or Nare Tashjian. Every name carries its Oklahoma license, and the letters after our names are on the team page.
Our therapistsHow it is paid for
Your plan or you pay, the same as other therapy. How fees work explains each, and the front desk goes through yours before you come in.
How fees workWhen to see a doctor first
Call your surgeon or a doctor first if your fingers turn blue or white, if numbness or swelling gets worse, or if the skin under the splint breaks down. If a hand is cold and has no feeling, or you have chest pain or trouble breathing, call 911.
Questions about splinting
How long will I wear a splint?
Your surgeon's orders and your therapist decide. We tell you when to wear it and when to take it off, and we call the office before changing those orders.
Can I get it wet?
Some materials can and some cannot. We tell you which yours is, and how to keep the skin under it dry and clean.
Can you make a splint for work?
Often, if your surgeon agrees. Tell us what your hands do at work and we shape one that leaves them as free as the plan allows.
Want your splint checked?
Book a visit, or call the front desk and ask who makes splints.
